Female trash collector: 'I proved them wrong'

COLONY MANOR Trash doesn't faze Louise Young. Officially, Young is one of two females in the city who holds the title "waste management collector." She picks up your trash, piece by piece. So proclaimed hip-hop deity Jay-Z, the Brooklyn native who last year surpassed the long-held Elvis Presley record for most No. 1 albums by a solo artist on the Billboard Top 200, during Sunday’s sold-out concert at Norfolk’s Scope arena.

An 'Olympic' shot for the ages

The guys were playing 3-on-3 at the Western Branch Community Center when I walked through the door and someone shouted to Max Koser, "Pick it up! Your lady's here."
Koser was 77 then, back in late October, and he was wearing what he almost always wears to weekly basketball practices - a blue T-shirt with "Golden Olympics" written on the front.
