PORTSMOUTH After operating a few short months, the she riff's new community enforcement unit has netted financial resources from the City Council. The council agreed Tuesday night to front $347,885 to finance the sheriff's unit. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will award grants of more than $1 million to The Elizabeth River Project Thursday.
The grants, including a Targeted Watershed Grant, will be given to the group during a luncheon, according to a news release from The Elizabeth River Project.
