A 28-year-old Virginia Beach man was charged in connection with two burglaries in the Michaels Woods area of the city, a Hampton police news release said.
Yaree Markeeba Woods was charged with two counts of breaking and entering and two counts of grand larceny.
NORFOLK
A 19-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in September 2009 was taken into custody today in Virginia Beach.
Ryan Nelson Johns was being held in the Norfolk City Jail on charges including murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and robbery, said Chris Amos, Norfolk police spokesman.

A Gibbs Woods man was sentenced to a minimum of almost four years in prison for manslaughter in the death of a former neighbor, a court official said Wednesday. Charles Newcomb, 61, was sentenced to at least 46 months and a maximum of 65 months, said Debbie Basnight, assistant clerk of Superior Court.

VIRGINIA BEACH A judge declared a mistrial Tuesday in a robbery and abduction case after a juror said she recognized one of the witnesses from the neighborhood where she used to live. The juror told Circuit Judge A. Bonwill Shockley after about a day and a half of the trial that she thought her recollection of the witness could potentially affect her impartiality in the case.
CHESAPEAKE Tione Vincent's two children lost a father. Police Officer Sean Fleming nearly lost his life. On Tuesday, a jury found Willie Simmons and Dedrion Short must pay for those losses. The panel recommended a 36-year sentence for Simmons and an 83-year term for Short for their roles in the June kidnapping, murder and rush-hour shootout with police.

Police have arrested a 16-year-old in the robbery of a Citgo gas station Monday.
VIRGINIA BEACH Police are looking for a man who robbed two women in the commissary parking lot on the Little Creek campus of the Joint Expeditionary Base on Friday. The commissary employees were walking to their vehicles when a man approached them, produced a handgun and demanded money, said police and base spokesman Scott Mohr.
