NORFOLK
Firefighters evacuated the BB&T building in the 500 block of E. Main Street for a brief time Thursday afternoon after the motor in a ventilation fan caught fire.
Norfolk Fire & Rescue spokesman Jack Goldhorn called the incident "very minor," although a second alarm was called due to the number of people in the building. The building was evacuated as a precaution because of smoke caused by the fire, Goldhorn said.
Firefighters were called out about 2:30 p.m. and everyone was back inside by 3 p.m.
