CHARLOTTESVILLE - Police in Virginia say they have arrested a second suspect in a series of shootings along a mountain highway.

Police say the second person arrested is a 16-year-old from Crozet. His name was not released.

Earlier, state police said 19-year-old Slade Allen Woodson was arrested Friday morning as police searched a farm in a rural part of central Virginia.

State Police Superintendent Steven Flaherty said Woodson has been charged with 12 counts and the juvenile faces 10 counts. He said the two suspects were friends.

Six vehicles were hit during the gunfire early Thursday on Interstate 64. Two cars, a van, a tractor-trailer and an unoccupied dump truck were among the vehicles that were struck. Two people had minor injuries.

anger and attention....

shame on the media....give him all this attention...why don't you just report the facts and keep his face off? So I'm a youth starved for attention and angry I'm not getting any attention....this should do....it worked for this fool. Great job!

Moron

Really, AMC Gremlin.
How many of them are still around? White Chevy would have been much better.

Anyone that thinks gun laws would have slowed this moron down is a moron too.

No matter what the subject...

One bad apple spoils the lot. I’m sure you have heard this before. You have to take any sensational headline and put it into perspective. Panic sells. It’s a great manipulator.

As far as the national gun database, I am honestly asking how will it change things? In a utopian society, everyone would voluntarily come forward and willingly register their guns. Then again, in a utopian society, we wouldn’t need to register guns. So, in perspective, how many would actually register out of the millions of guns in the US and would it be effective? Would it be realistic or simply a hollow symbolic gesture?

Or do we accept the reality that any gun out there in the hands of a criminal or mental person won’t be registered no matter what database you construct? So what would be a reasonable alternative?

I’m asking a serious question and expect serious well mannered replies.

Yes, Jason, It was

Really, Jason, where are all the preventions these concealed weapons permits are supposed to be responsible for?

Sounds like this dude needs

Sounds like this dude needs a "Time out". Gee whiz...got his heart broken. Well, now you've won yourself a paid vacation in the State's penal system!! Yessir, now you can mend your broken heart, dude...you can forget about that girl cuz there will be GUYS romancing you from now on!! yessir! And you can get free therapy and free schooling, and possibly learn more about mechanics so you won't have to put "sorta" on your MySpace site from now on!! Good for you, you nutball!! I hope your "time out" is for many years becuz brother, you need to be taken off the streets.

Highway gunman

The highway gun and the one that got shot probably were your everyday Joe's that just happen to own guns and like to shoot at passing cars. I'm sure they didn't have any mental issues. DUH! The mentally ill and their guns are shooting and killing far too many people, but gun advocates don't see a problem. I will continue to say, we need a National Data Base on all guns. All guns!

Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?

Why do we waste time replying to these comments made by individuals, who in my opinion anyway, are scarrier then the actual criminals. This is probably the same type of reasoning that was used by this highway shooter, or the apartment maintenance worker's killer, or any of the many others lately, that after they "snap", then people come out of the woodwork to claim they saw it in him all along. I think I read this in some peoples comments. I don't dare memtion any names for fear that my comment might not be accepted, but I'm sure many of you out there see the overall picture.

The clue is the car

If i had a light colored AMC Gremlin i might go on a shooting rampage too.

No jury can convict him! heh

Quite nutty

Protecting yourself and those around you because you are armed does not mean becoming a vigilante who hunts down criminals on the loose.

?

Nuttier or quite clever? I believe, the latter

What?

Was that supposed to be a gun control argument. Nuttier all the time.

Scary comment from the first poster

"Why did it take so long to bring this guy down? Where were all our concealed weapons permit holders? Where was our militia? Why do you guys spend sooooo much time in your armchairs spouting about how concealed weapons are the secret to stopping guys like this, but we don't seem to see you Charlton Heston's on there bringing down guys like this? Where were you? You let us down!"-
One wonders what this poster means. What is exactly is he advocating? Could he have done a better job at investigating? I really doubt it. Apparenlty he doesn't realize that an investigation like this can take some time; this is reality, not TV. In my opinion, the State Police did a great job in starting to get this crime solved. I think they've done a great investigation so far. I hope the arrest of the perp in the picture, leads to the arrest, trial and conviction of all those involved.

Where was our militia?
