Norfolk firefighters douse East Ocean View blaze

Posted to: News Norfolk

NORFOLK

Investigators are seeking the cause of a two-alarm fire in the East Ocean View section this afternoon that has destroyed one residence.

The alarm, in the 9500 block of Eleventh Bay St., came in at 2:23 p.m. with "numerous calls" to 911 dispatches, said Jack Goldhorn, a spokesman for Norfolk Fire & Rescue.

He said the blaze in the two-story, frame structure was brought under control in about a half hour.

The building had a garage on the first floor with living quarters above. "Most of the second floor was totally destroyed," Goldhorn said this afternoon.

There were no injuries and the single resident of the address was not home at the time of the fire, he said.

The location is just off Pretty Lake Avenue and along Little Creek.
