Norfolk councilman set to receive planning leadership award

NORFOLK

Norfolk City Councilman W. Randy Wright will be honored today with the 2008 Outstanding Planning Leadership Award.

The award, given by the Virginia Chapter of the American Planning Association, will be give to Wright during a lunch ceremony in Reston, according to a Norfolk news release and spokeswoman.

Wright is being given the award for his contributions to several projects including the revitalization of East Ocean View, the creation of the East Beach community and the state’s first light rail system, the release says.

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine is a previous winner of the award, the release says.
