Former W&M president to appear on WHRO-TV talk show

Gene Nichol will appear on a WHRO public-television talk show Friday in what apparently will be his first interview after he abruptly resigned in February as president of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg after being told his contract wouldn’t be renewed.

Nichol is scheduled to appear on the inaugural broadcast of “What Matters,” a new weekly public-affairs show at 8:30 p.m. hosted by Cathy Lewis.

His resignation ended an at-times controversial 2½-year tenure, and sparked campus protests by student and faculty supporters. Nichol and his wife are returning to the University of North Carolina to teach law.
